Re: ✩✩✩ My Best Linux OS - Linux Mint 17 “Qiana”(Updated) ✩✩

Re: ✩✩✩ My Best Linux OS - Linux Mint 17 “Qiana”(Updated) ✩✩

^parehas yan pang Windows lang eh. Linux does not run windows executable binaries(.exe). No not natively. Pero kahit ganun both Visual Studio Series at MS SQL Server Management are known to have several buggy issues to not working at all issues sa WINE. Kaya wala din hehe

Pwde ka maginstall sa Linux ng VirtualBox in which you can install MS WINDOWS XP,7,8 and emulate WINDOWS on top of Linux at iinstall mo yang dalawang yan dun sa virtual Windows na nagrrun and I think it will run 100% without problems maliban na lang sa huge consumption sa processor at memory kasi nagrrun ka ng another OS virtually eh. Kasi I have the same setup Visual Studio 2010 Enterprise and SQL server running on Windows 7 Guest sa Virtual Box that is running on Windows 7 Host din hehe. Ang pinagkaiba lang Linux lang ang Host OS mo but still it is Virtual Box pa din nman.

Re: ✩✩✩ My Best Linux OS - Linux Mint 17 “Qiana”(Updated) ✩✩

sir blocksfree, in your experience. ano mas maganda linux sa spects ng pc ko:
INTEL CORE i3 2100
4gig RAM.
i'm planning to install linux.
dual boot with win 8.1
already downloaded linux mint quiana cinamon edition and xfce edition.
AND ALSO NEWBIE PO AKO SA LINUX.

Re: ✩✩✩ My Best Linux OS - Linux Mint 17 “Qiana”(Updated) ✩✩

Actually it is more than enough.

It is a matter of preference lang talaga. If you want to learn Linux or gustu mo hasain ang sarili mo sa Linux you can try PuppyLinux especially Tiny Core Linux. At most may OS ka na for just 15-70MB good for old and low end specs hardcore learning learning nga lang.

If you are aiming for Linux certification and IT career improvement hasain mo sarili mo sa Red Hat Linux tiyak tataas sweldo mo and high chance of promotion lalo na if you are aiming to go abroad.

If gusto mo ng user friendliness and dont want to bother with Linux nerdiness at galing ka sa Windows eh Linux Mint ang maganda. If you want something new at user friendly and no techy stuff din pwde na Ubuntu.

Although it is far more advantageous in the future to learn these kinds of stuff and other hard core stuff sa Linux. Dati takot din ako sa Linux pero one day nirestrict ko na lang sarili ko sa Linux and puro commandline lang talaga and it was fun at dahil dun madali ko maintindihan mga errors sa Linux at madali masolusyunan if hindi talaga kaya Google is your friend naman.

Meron din mga Linux Distro kagaya ng Gentoo at ArchLinux na mas updated ang kernel at mga core system files basta may bago release kagad sa public unlike sa Debian based Linux such as Ubuntu and Linux Mint eh every 6 months kung magrelease at mejo behind sila sa latest kernel at mga core files pero it does not mean kulelat siguro as a programmer naiintindihan ko sila siguro maganda din kasi gamitin yung hindi latest kasi hindi prone sa bugs eh. Not until they are satisfied hindi sila gagamit ng latest kernel or system files. Usually pinapatagal ko pa in a few months bago ako magupgrade or gumamit ng new version ng isang Linux Distro. Anyway Gentoo and ArchLinux are highly preferred ng mga advanced users kasi gusto nila plge sila on the latest versions at gusto nila highly customizable.

Sa totoo lang napakarami pang ibang Linux Distro na pwde subukan kaso napapansin ko kasi paulit ulit lang puro reinvention of the wheel lang at karamihan sakanila eh hindi na namamaintain or naaupdate ng developer or nung nagpasimuno. Tapyasin yan idagdag ito palitan ng pangalan at logo. kaya stick to the major ones and popular ones nalang kasi guaranteed namamaintain sila ng developers.

I think it is time na. kasi halos lahat na ngayon eh Linux. DVD player eh Linux.

Re: ✩✩✩ My Best Linux OS - Linux Mint 17 “Qiana”(Updated) ✩✩✩

^pwede ang Oracle database server on Linux systems. Initially naman kasi ang Linux eh was intended for server purposes katulad ng mga database servers kaya ok sya. Advise ko lang na know the basics muna sa command line kahit basic lang para mainstall mo oracle database kasi ibang installation procedures for oracle eh sa terminal or command line mo gagawin.

Oo marami talagang Linux systems kaya it is good to know your Linux Distro. Dahil ang Linux Mint eh development team nila eh initially part of Ubuntu dev team hanggang nagkaroon ng alitan kaya humiwalay ang ibang members kaya nabuo ang Linux Mint na based sa Ubuntu. Ang Ubuntu is based on Debian Linux. Kaya most Debian packages or installers din eh compatible sa Ubuntu at Linux Mint and most apps for Ubuntu eh pwd sa Linux Mint. Kaya always look for installation instructions for your Linux distro kasi iba installation instructions kapag Arch Linux and others

Saka know your architecture din. If ang ininstall mo eh Linux Mint 17 64 bit edition you must always install apps for 64 bit versions. Most programs eh may separate installer for 32 bit at 64 bit.

Very user friendly.

Re: ✩✩✩ My Best Linux OS - Linux Mint 17 “Qiana”(Updated) ✩✩✩

Sa Linux terminologies kasi kapag sinabi ng isang Linux user na try mo Linux Distro nya ibig sabihin itry mo daw Ang Linux System nya. Katulad sinabi ko napakaraming Linux systems or Linux Names. May Ubuntu, may Linux Mint, may Puppy Linux, may Zorin OS, may Red Hat Linux, may Fedora, may Arch linux, may Gentoo, may CentOS(popularly used as a server OS) at napakarami pang Linux varieties. I never tried pa yung Pinoy Linux Varieties.

View attachment 175975

Jan ka kukuha ng apps, tools, games or libraries. When you say libraries katumbas ito ng .DLL files sa Windows. Minsan kasi may mga dependencies na tinatawag or nakadepende ang isang app bago magrun dapat install muna itong library na ito or library na ganito.

Most library files eh may tag name suffix. Kunyare libxvidcore4 bago ka makapagplay ng xvid videos need nya muna itong libxvidcore4 video codec library. It comes in 2 editions - libxvidcore4 at libxvidcore4:i386. So dahil 64 bit ang Linux mint ko hindi ko pipiliin ang libxvidcore4:i386 kasi ang tag name na i386 eh known as for 32bit version only. Pero there are times na ang isang app or game eh need ng 32bit libraries kahit 64 bit Linux ang gamit mo

View attachment 175976

View attachment 175977

Not all apps eh makikita sa Software Manager. Example. Teamviewer, Truecrypt, Google Chrome etc na need mo sila muna idownload from their main websites at iinstall using their specialized instructions(kung meron). From their website kadalasan maraming installer variations for Linux. For Debian, Arch Linux, for Fedora etc... Kung Ubuntu at Linux Mint ka naman highly compatible ang Debian installers or Debian packages most of the time. Kung for Ubuntu lang nakikita mong installer kunyare then it is safe to assume na pang Linux Mint din sya.......... Then you also have to consider kung 32bit or 64 bit na nandun din sa mga websites nila. To prevent future issues or failed installs, bugs and glitches dapat palage mo immatch ang app architecture sa architecture ng Linux mo kung 32bit or 64 bit.

Anyway, both Ubuntu and Linux Mint are intelligent enough kung ang isang app, games or tools eh may dependencies.
