You have just spent a considerable amount of money on a new and shiny smartphone, and you’re in awe of how perfect it looks and feels in your hand. Protecting your new phone from yourself and other unforeseen hazards would be the next most important thing to do. For some, besides protecting the device, dressing it up to showcase your individual style is also just as important. Now that you’re convinced that you need a mobile phone case or cover, here are some for protection and some for the decorative stylish you.

Different Material, Same Purpose, Different Capacity
Mobile phone cases come in different types of material, each material may claim to protect your phone, but in reality, different material, offers different levels of protection.

Fabric
Cases that are made of cotton, wool and polyester are definitely not the best materials to shield our phones even from most of life’s daily hazards like getting it wet while running to catch the bus. Obviously, cases that are made out of this material are simply decorative and serves a very minimal amount of protection. However, for those who simply want to dress up their phone (you know who you are), by all means, feel free to feast on the aesthetic pleasure that it embellishes your phone.

Leather

Mobile phone cases that are made of leather provides a moderate level of protection, plus adding a sleek classy design to your phone. Leather mobile phone cases are definitely neat; they are cool to look at on the phone and they are easy to maintain. Most leather covers are sewed with extra padding in them to provide a little shock protection to the phone. A leather case is classy, easy to clean, and will provide a moderate level of protection to your phone. This one is good if you simply want to safeguard your phone from minor damages like coins, keys, or other metals in your pocket, or from moderate to mild bumps and falls.

Plastic

This is a great material that could protect the entire structure of your phone efficiently. Plastic cases are your phone’s life savior when you are outdoors. This material is especially good in protecting your device from dust and other harmful elements. However, with plastic it is not shock-absorbent, making your phone less protected from any accidental slip from your hands. The main selling point of phone cases made of plastic is that boasts the most creative and fancy looking cases. If you simply want to express yourself through your phone’s cases or you just want your phone to look decorative, this the way to do it. Do note that aside from moderate scratch and shock protection, plastic cases can also be somewhat limiting and restrictive due to its hard and non-elastic texture.

Silicone

Phone covers made of silicone offers the best overall protection to your phone. Silicones can easily stay in place all the time, due to the suction effect that it causes when pressed on a flat surface. Also, it is a very flexible material. It can be stretched enough fit the phone, which is why silicone cases fit snugly with the phones that it is designed for. They cling to the surface of the device, enough to cover crucial or delicate parts of the phone. Also, silicone is shock absorbent. Many high profile heavy duty cases are made of silicone, which can protect the phone from hard falls, dust and even water. Due to its tight fit, it is able to seal the phone tight, making it a great protector from moist and water.
The only downside of this material is that it tends to be expensive. For those who have spent a considerable amount on the swanky phone with the latest technology, spending a bit more in giving your phone the best protection is an important consideration.

Protection Vs Decoration
You can't have them all, not even with a phone case or cover. It is either you get a fancy looking mobile phone case or you get a sturdy yet bulky one. If you are all for protecting the physical integrity of your phone in the hopes that it will be 100% intact and shiny until a new model of the iPhone comes out, then go for the bulky and sturdy case. On the other hand, if you simply want to make your phone physically appealing and expressive, then the more decorative and fancy designed cases would be the best bet for your visual pleasure. Depending on your lifestyle, you may want to have options, a rugged case for your weekend hiking adventures and a slim fit case for your every day at the office.

Do Your Homework
With the thousands of different phone cases available in the market, doing a little research online will help you narrow down what types of cases appeal to you. A simple online search, for example on iprice, can help you find the many types of material, brand and price available, before you make your purchase. Reading various reviews also help provide a better idea of the types of phone cases currently in the market.
