For basics in Ubuntu, you can visit Page 1 of this page (First Post) and read up on the details.

I believe nag-post kayo sa iba't-ibang threads din about this same question and may sumagot na dito if I'm not mistaken.

MAC address spoofing is easy, isang command lang naman yun eh. The problem with MAC Address spoofing is: kahit nakapag-copy ka ng authorized na MAC Address, remember that in any network, only 1 unique MAC address can connect to a router at any time. Example: let's say MAC Address: 12345. Tapos ni-spoof mo. In that case, wala kang kaagaw.

bosing matanong ko lang po, kasi applications tab ng ubuntu 8.04 ng isa naming computer dito sa office ayaw mag-respond. ok naman po yung places and system tabs. sa isang user account (of that said computer) lang po ito nangyari, sa admin at isa pang user account gumagana naman yung all three tabs (applications, places, system). ano po bang gagawin dito? sinubukan na po namin ng P.M. I.T. yung recursive reset command pero walang nangyari. thanks po in advance sa sagot nyo. :salute:

Ubuntu 8.04? End-of-life na yan sir ah. Consider upgrading it: https://wiki.ubuntu.com/Releases Going back to the issue: bakit hindi na lang i-delete ang user account at i-create na lang ulit?

sir, ayaw na po kasi mag-upgrade ng company namin kasi gamay na raw ng mga teachers ang ubuntu 8.04. already considered that option but the thing is that the user of that account has lots of files, around 20GB and she doesn't want to transfer for a while to other stations because she needs all her files there. wala naman po akong external hard drive para sana makapag-backup pero siguro kopyahin ko na lang sa ibang hard drive ng ibang station. thanks sir sa reply! :salute:

Well...I think may issue yung employee. If you really need to get it fixed, the person needs to allow I.T. to move the files. From where I come from, nasusunod ang I.T. pagdating sa ganyan dahil jurisdiction ng I.T. ang pag-maintain ng mga workstation, kasi company property naman yan and hindi personal property.

then change mac again.

it might work dba.

ah okay sir, i'll let my bosses know about this matter and thanks for the insights! :salute: more power po sa thread n'yo at talagang you make it a point to answer all the inquiries.

You typically employ MAC Address spoofing as a means to gain Internet connection with the following conditions/assumptions:

1. You are able to determine the WPA/WPA2 passphrase but you can't connect because the router has MAC Address filtering enabled, AND (not OR)...
2. You can't get into the router's administration page (the router's admin password)

The situation you presented above assumes that you know the router's admin page password. In this case, performing MAC Spoofing is impractical. Since you can already take over the router, then it means you can change the WPA/WPA2 passphrase = no more need to "hide" in the shadow of a legit MAC Address since it is a total take-over.

hindi tayo nagkaintindihan sir.

open security ap with mac filtering

using ubuntu na ulit for dev. tanong ko lang, i'm setting up legacy IE VMs, how can I get virtualbox to recognize my USB?

The paragraph in my last post pertained to the last sentence in your post:

...depende nlng kung default lang ang password ng setup ng router.

...to which I mentioned na "it assumes that you know the password" (which I am implying, like what you have mentioned, that chances are slim that it is kept at default).

...so yeah, looks like di tayo nagkakaintindihan.

Pero now that you mentioned your new specifications/assumptions (Open AP with MAC Filtering)...behaviorally (human behavior), people who set up Open AP with MAC Filtering are those who check registered MAC Addresses regularly. So eventually, any additionally-registered MAC Address (which is not part of their authorized MAC Addresses) will be noticed.

Make sure that your username is part of "vboxusers". May tutorial na po ako about this dati pa, it's on Page 1 (First Post) of this thread. Here's the direct link for your convenience: http://www.symbianize.com/showthread.php?t=261361&page=205&p=4354742&viewfull=1#post4354742

@TS
yung 12.04 ubuntu unity and mint 13(12.04 ubuntu base) ay LTS.

@TS
yung 12.04 ubuntu unity and mint 13(12.04 ubuntu base) ay LTS.

This is the thread that best explains the reason: http://askubuntu.com/questions/237077/does-12-04-lxde-have-lts

Also, the Ubuntu Wiki explains it further here: https://wiki.ubuntu.com/LTS

The LTS designation applies only to specific subsets of the Ubuntu archive. The LTS may not apply to all flavors and remixes of Ubuntu.

Examples:

1. For 8.04 LTS, Kubuntu chose to move to KDE 4.0 and didn't issue an LTS release.
2. In 10.04, the Netbook Edition was not an LTS.

The project will decide which flavors will be LTS and the support duration for each, early in the LTS development cycle.

...so in essence, Lubuntu 12.04 is not the first time na nangyari ito. :)
