[ADVISE] Help in Assembling/Building/Choosing/Upgrading Your Computer

I started this thread to help everyone wanting a new computer. All you need to do is post the following:

usage:

other miscellaneous requirements:

*If to be used for gaming,. please indicate the games you wish to play.


The prices i will be using are those that come from major shops in gilmore and also PCexpress and others... The prices will only reflect that of which on the date of my post.


also please put your requests in this format:

How to get to Gilmore:
commuting... From EDSA get on the MRT to Cubao and take the other train and get off at Gilmore station. so easy.
driving... Via aurora is the easiest way from EDSA. anyway, just ask na lang cos i dunno where you'll be coming from.

Hi. Please help me buy a computer for my son. He will be using it mainly for school and some games. He likes to play Dota and L4D. Our budget for the PC would be 20K. We already have a printer, monitor and speakers. Our monitor is a 17" CRT monitor. My son said he prefers 1gb video card.

ung phenom x3 po cguro try ko ipunin.. pero kung ung athlon 64 X2 ok na po ba un para makapag laro ng mga latest games? nid ko pa po ba ng VC para mkalaro ng maaus?

Kung "latest" games, IMO, mas maganda kung Quaddie na CPU paired w/ a good Video Card. Or kung ayaw mo po bumili ng Video Card, read mo po reviews ng 790G, kung gusto mo po mag-AMD.

hehehe.. active na uli ako sa symbianize.. pwde ba ako sumali sa thread na toh.. like giving my opinions sa upgrades, building new rig, bang for the back/best buys, price-performance ratios..etc.

tama po si sir stat, kung gs2 mu makalaro ng games, esp latest games flawless, no sweat, ahe, quad core ka nlng po (pero if d kaya ok nrin ata ung x3). .my german friend uses amd phenom x4 2.2ghz bundled with ati radeon hd4850 and gigabyte ga-ma78g-ds3hp(although ewan q kung may balak siya mag crossfire). .ok naman po siya, pero as laging advice q sa isang magandang system, pinaka import ay mganda ang quiality ng psu mo, wag generic. .hec, corsair, thermaltake, and others, maraming mggnda^_^

Para sure ka kahit 64 x2 nalang bilihin mu.. basta maganda ung Memory card mo and good VC. ilipat munalang ung gagastosin mo sa quad core para sa VC and memory.

Basta maayos ung setup ok yan.

magkano ba budget mo?

@the one who is asking about X2's X3's and X4's
go for a higher end X2 over an X3. although it uses higher latency memory (1066 vs 800 for X2) napaka slight ng difference, and most programs that run on quads disregard the third core and run it on dual cores instead. meaning? extra core is just a waste of money, besides, its only those rejected quaddies that AMD disabled the 4th.

again, a higher frequency X2 over an X3 or if you can, an X4. also, when choosing for an X2, please choose a brisbane(or Kuma). its much faster than the older one.

just check if your board supports it.

tama. a possible upgrade for you is memory and video card na lang. Radeon X1650 ata ang abundant na AGP ang base. ang madami is yung 7300GT DDR3 na AGP... i think this goes for around 2K(?) second hand.

bakit mahal ang DDR sa DDR2? bakit din mahal ang AGP sa PCIe? well, the answer lies in the law of supply and demand. mababa na kasi ang supply nyan kaya mahal. bihira na ang gumagawa so yun...

really depends on the budget, but if you have a budget of around 4K, i suggest selling your current PC on tpc then purchase a newer system.

Bossing OhNow3p pa-advise naman po regarding sa pupuwedeng maging upgrades pa ng "luma" at "pangit" kong pc:

Processor: Intel (R) Celeron (R) CPU 2.66 GHZ
MoBo: ECS P4M800-M7
Memo: 512 MB RAM
Video Card: NVIDIA GeForce FX 5200
Sound Card: (pa-suggest po kung ano ang the best sound card and isama na rin ung speakers)

Bossing, gusto ko po sana bumili ng bagong unit pero since hindi pa ako masyadong adept sa pag-identify kung anong parts ang dapat, ask ko po kayo kung ano ang best na specs ng pc, regardless of the price. purpose ko po mainly is GAMING, programming ang pa-photoshop.

Bossing, isama niyo na rin po yung mga astig na peripherals. Kailangan ko po kasi nangangati na akong bumili ng bagong unit. Supported naman kasi ako ng parents ko sa budget eh.
